God has blessed me much more than I could ever deserve. I hope to live my life in complete praise to Him--the One who has given me everything.

Fun but Busy Week

This week has been a great week, but it has been busy! So far, we have played outside with sidewalk chalk, eaten dinner at Grandma's, eaten dinner at Pizza Hut with family, gone to Wal-Mart, got Gigi's hair cut, got my hair colored & cut (for almost 1/2 the price I normally pay! Yay!), talked to one of my bestest friends for an hour and a half, met PawPaw for ice cream during the middle of the day, went for a walk around the subdivision, & played, played, played. It has been a refreshing change of pace! Today, if I can quit procrastinating, we plan to do a little shopping before picking up Gigi at work & grilling out tonight for dinner...yum!

In a few days I'll post pictures of this week. We haven't made a ton, but there have been some cute ones. Hope you're all having a wonderful week, too!!!

Paducah bound

Sydney and I are still in Paducah. Ryan found out that he was going to be in Evansville from Tuesday-Friday, so we decided to stay put. It is nice to have the change of pace & chance to visit better with family, but I do miss my hubby!! Love ya, Babe!!

My weekend

This past weekend took an unexpected turn. It wasn't a bad turn, but went quite a bit differently than I had expected the Monday before. On Thursday, Ryan found out that he would be with the Navy Reserves for the weekend. Since his parents were planning a visit that weekend, it put a kink in the plans to say the least. They decided to postpone their visit until they could spend the day with all of us. So, that meant Sydney and I were on our own for the weekend. I had decided just us girls would go to the zoo. Then I found out that Ryan would be working on school work the few short hours he was here Saturday night & working midnight Sunday night with his civilian job. He suggested we head to Paducah for the weekend instead of sitting in E-town trying to figure out something to do. When I called my dad Friday night to see what their plans were for the rest of the weekend, he said they were in Nashville & wouldn't be home until Saturday night. Instead of saying, "forget it, I'll stay here". I got up Saturday morning & didn't rush in.

I spent Saturday afternoon with my grandmother. It was so nice to just sit with her and talk. When I was growing up, my grandparents lived three doors down from us. There were many, many days that I would walk down to her house & just hang out. It is one of my fondest memories of Greenfield Drive. So, it was nice to have the afternoon to just be together.

Saturday night, my mom & I went to Wal-Mart while my dad kept Sydney. There I ran into a friend from high school. It was so nice seeing her and her little family! Her daughter is the cutest! Well...next to mine anyway. ;-) I don't think I've seen her since one of our other friend's wedding. It had really been a long time & was nice to chat for a while & catch-up.

Sunday was the day I got my "fix"! I was able to go to my home church. It is so hard living in a city & not having a home church yet. You feel so disconnected from the world. So, I was able to reconnect Sunday. They make fun of us for being in Paducah so much, but little do they know, right now they're my salvation...in more than one way! ha! I'm just thankful that I get to see them all so much & get to worship God with people who love him.

Sunday afternoon & was able to see Ryan's parents for a little while. It was nice for Sydney to get to see her Pops and Gran. I know she really misses them. After visiting them, we headed back to E-town. Normally Sydney is a WONDERFUL traveler, but last night...not so much! She slept the first 1/2 of the trip, played for the next 30 minutes, and then S-C-R-E-A-M-E-D for the next hour!!! I have heard parents talk about their kids not being good travelers! I don't know that I would go anywhere with her acting like she did last night!! I never could figure out what was wrong with her. I think she just wanted out of the car seat & to be held & was letting it be known! Oh well, most of my weekend was a good weekend!! Hope yours was good, too!

Wonderful, wonderful weekend

Friday we headed to Paducah. Not really knowing why we were going in, we decided to go anyway. Ryan's parents had too many commitments to see us that weekend, my grandmother was sick, my father was out-of-town until Saturday night, & my mom had to write a paper on Saturday!!! We didn't know about Ryan's parents & my grandmother until right before we left. Feeling a little unsure if we should go in or not, we decided to anyway. It was a WONDERFUL decision. Now, don't get me wrong, we would have loved to see Ryan's parents as well as my grandmother, but the weekend turned out to be a huge blessing.

On Saturday to get out of my mother's hair, we went to Land Between the Lakes. We drove for a little while & then chose to find a place to hike. Above are pictures of our hike. Sydney really enjoyed being out in the woods. We loved being away from the world. It was a P-E-R-F-E-C-T day--mid to upper-70's & not a cloud in the sky. Normally we wouldn't be able to make that kind of outing because we would have to see everyone in the short amount of time that we get in a weekend. I guess we could go anyway, but we would feel guilty while being out there. So, it was perfect...a perfect day with no guilt.
Saturday night Nathan & Sarah came in. They met us at Rafferty's for dessert. I was so thrilled to hear that they were coming. We had a great time at dinner.

The next day, Sunday, we went to church & then to the church picnic at Mike Miller Park. It was so great to be around the Reidland crowd. Reidland will always be my safe-haven no matter where I am. It was nice to be around everyone. And the weather again was perfect...a little windy at first, but when the wind died down, it was GREAT!

I have to say that this past weekend was exactly what I needed. With the move & all, I have been quite blah lately. Now...I'm back! I am upbeat & looking forward to each day. It was defitely the pick-me-up I needed!

Plane ride

We fly out Saturday morning to head to Paducah to see family. I have to say that I am quite apprehensive about it. People are not very tolerant of a screaming baby on a plane. I completely understand why. I was one of them . Now having to do it, I have much more sympathy for mom & baby in that situation. There is NO way to calm a baby if they flat don't want to be calmed. Luckily, Sydney doesn't have those moods very often. I also feels sorry for the baby. I'm sure many times with young babies they are crying because of the pressure in their ears. I would cry, too! Anyway, I pray for everyone involved that the flights to and from St. Louis go well. Keep your fingers crossed!

New Look & Paducah

So, I had the little one asleep...well, Ryan did really. I've been tired of the look of my blog, so I decided I would give it a change. We'll see if this new look sticks around.

Ryan and I decided last night that we are heading to Paducah next weekend!! We got tickets from American Airlines for $79 round-trip to St. Louis!!! Once we saw that deal, we just couldn't pass it up. Sydney will be 3 months old tomorrow & has changed so much lately. It has been two months since we have been in Paducah, so I think she's due a visit. We can't wait to see our family and friends. It will be a quick, quick trip in. I am thankful that we will be able to go to Reidland while we are in. That will let us see those friends that we don't always get to see. I love worshipping there while we are in. That is HOME. It always will be. The people there are as much my family as my own blood relatives...more really. So, I'm thankful that we will be able to worship with them. We look forward (can't wait, really) to see you all!! Paducah, here we come!
